I am writing on behalf of the Canadian Brain Injury and Violence Research Team, headed by Dr. Michael Cusimano at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto. Our team is presenting a conference titled “Outcomes following Concussion in Hockey (OuCH!)” taking place on Sept 17 (this Saturday). The goal of this conference is to address the increasing number of concussions being sustained by young hockey players. Please support one of our own, Brendan Rogers, former Winnipeg Blue Bomber and Toronto Argonaut, as he prepares to climb Mt Kilimanjaro next month.

Brendan is raising funds for the study of brain injury and concussion at BC Children’s Hospital Foundation. Please donate here.

Brendan is planning to lead a team of former CFL’ers and friends next year. Please send a note if interested in joining.

The CFL Alumni Association is committed to help support research and awareness of concussion. We are also actively involved in the Canadian Sports Concussion Project at Krembil Neuroscience Center at Toronto Western Hospital. The research group is led by Dr. Charles Tator, Canada’s preeminent authority on sports concussion. Shortly we will be “recruiting” volunteers for a long term study of concussion. If interested please send a return email. Your anonymity will be respected.

We extend a “thatta boy” to Brendan for his efforts and for showing us all the way to the top!

Cheers, Leo
