I am writing on behalf of the Canadian Brain Injury and Violence Research Team, headed by Dr. Michael Cusimano at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto. Our team is presenting a conference titled “Outcomes following Concussion in Hockey (OuCH!)” taking place on Sept 17 (this Saturday). The goal of this conference is to address the increasing number of concussions being sustained by young hockey players. An elite team of doctors, researchers, athletes, reporters, and player representatives will gather with the intention to educate the public on what is known about concussions in hockey, and more importantly, what can be done about them.

Workshop on Rehabilitation Following a Tramatic Brain Injury –– Social and Cultural Diversity
Featuring the movie “Non ti scordar di te…” [Don’t You Forget… ], an Italian documentary about the recovery process after a brain injury.
The short movie profiles five individuals treated at the Rehabilitation Department of the Ferrara University Hospital, a leading institution in the field of rehabilitation, and at BrainCare srl, a new startup society for neuropsychological rehabilitation. An expert in neuropsychological rehabilitation, Dr. Cantagallo has been invited to speak at numerous national and international scientific conferences and her active involvement in research has led to a large number of publications.
After the film, there will be a panel discussion with experts, including Dr. Shawn Marshall from the Ottawa Hospital, Dr. Rachel Thibeault from the University of Ottawa, Dr. Claire Smith, and Dr. Angela Colantonio from the University of Toronto followed by a question-and-answer period.
